If you're visiting #Shanghai #China during the autumn months then one delicacy that you can't go past is the chinese mitten crab, more lovingly known as Hairy Crab.

The chinese pay top dollar for these crabs especially if sourced from Yangcheng lake where the best tasting crabs are said to come from.

Due to the high demand for them, you will find restaurants all over Shanghai serving these crabs with some even going so far as to creating elaborate multi course banquet menus in celebration of this furry little crustacean. One such place is Michelin starred Cheng Long Hang #ShanghaiRestaurants

Traditionally hairy crab is eaten very simply steamed with a dipping sauce of rice vinegar, sugar and ginger. Cheng Long Hang instead takes the crab to a whole other level, exploring alternate ways in which to cook with it, pairing it with different ingredients and cooking techniques and presents it as a 10 course degustation, ending with a dessert and fruit.

Being mentioned in the Michelin guide #MichelinStar means that you will definitely have to make a reservation ahead of time as they are extremely busy especially during this peak crab season. The restaurant is set over two levels with private dining rooms on both the ground and upper floors.

My friend and I really enjoyed our hairy crab experience and would recommend any seafood lovers to try this when in Shanghai.
